Parent CRAFT is more effective than traditional intervention
Do any of these situations apply to your child?
Has developed, or is developing a dependence on drugs or alcohol
Incapable of supporting important relationships with friends or family
Using drugs under dangerous conditions or taking life-threatening risks
Has lapsed into a pattern of drug or alcohol abuse after previous treatment
No longer capable of supporting themselves without assistance
Cannot stop their use despite reasoning, threats or bargaining
If you answered yes to even one of these, Parent CRAFT can help you.
It’s never too late to improve the way you communicate with your child or young adult as you work to get them the help they need. Only 10% of the 30M adolescents and young adults with harmful use of drugs and alcohol are receiving substance abuse treatment. Evidence suggests that substance users who are pushed into treatment by a traditional confrontational intervention are more likely to relapse than clients who are encouraged into treatment with less confrontational means.
CRAFT has been shown to be five times more effective than the traditional “tough love” method or interventions to get loved ones to seek professional help*. More than 2/3 of family members who use CRAFT successfully engage their loved ones in treatment, and family members who use CRAFT experience greater improvements in their emotional and physical health than do those who use confrontational methods.
